In line with the tradition of farmers’ and weekly markets, Carrefour Spain made with this project a first attempt to bring the feeling of shopping at the local farmers’ market into a new premium supermarket format.
Although they are shopping inside, the typical smells, colors, seasonally changing surprises and new discoveries are greeting them when entering the market. They are welcomed by the
produce department in the center, which is surrounded by the other fresh departments.
On the second level of the market, in the basement, this atmosphere continues in the wine department, named “la bodega”. The rest of the basement is dedicated to the remaining grocery and all pre-packaged goods where a more functional, simple and clean layout was created.
